Triennial Recognizes DWTX

The Diocese of West Texas is recognized multiple times in Issue No. 4 of Triennial Today, the magazine of the National Episcopal Church Women (ECW). The 2012 Triennial meeting is being held in Indianapolis at the same time as the 77th General Convention. Click here to view the magazine.

The issue features a spread on the 5K walk that was organized by Catherine Lillibridge to honor the memory of her friend Mary Ellen Smith, wife of Bishop Dabney Smith of the Diocese of Southwest Florida. A picture of the DWTX team is in the magazine, as well as the text of Catherine’s pre-race welcome speech.

Ahuerro’s award from the National ECW.

Also featured in the issue are communication awards for newsletter and website editors in the nine provinces of The Episcopal Church, who are members of the National ECW and submitted their work to the production team of Triennial Today. Jane Ahuerro, who is a member of St. George, San Antonio, is the editor of the newsletter for the diocesan Commission for Women’s Ministries. Ahuerro received the Excellence in ECW Community Outreach award for her newsletter, which is mailed to all women who attend an ECW event and it is also featured on the diocesan website. Congratulations, Jane!

Deborah Gardiner, who serves as president of the diocesan Commission for Women’s Ministries, was elected at the Triennial Meeting to serve as Member at Large, Social Justice of the National ECW. This position makes recommendations for social justice opportunities and concerns and includes oversight of the Women to Women program. This is quite an honor and we congratulate Deborah.

Catherine Lillibridge said, “We are blessed with the women we have in our diocese; I am very proud of us.”
